WHAT WE'RE LEARNING
It has been a very busy year in the music class. See what kinds of things we have been learning.
Kindergarten have been working on developing their individual singing voices, comparatives--fast/slow, loud/soft, high/low, same/different and voice types. In March we will begin to focus on Beat, Word Rhythm and continue learning to listen to music.
First Grade have reviewed all kindergarten concepts, learned about ta/ti-ti and So-Mi. In March we will begin to focus on Rest, La, the staff and continue to listen to music, composers, instrument families, etc.
Second Grade have reviewed all first grade concepts, learned about do, re, tika-tika, ta-o and listening activities. In March we will focus on 2/4 and 4/4 time and Low la.
Third grade have reviewed all second grade concepts, learned whole note, Low sol, listening to music and absolute pitch. In March we will begin to learn ti-tika, tika-ti, ti-ta-ti and high do.
Fourth grade have reviewed all third grade concepts and went on to learn Tam-ti and Ti-tam rhythms and listening to music. In March we will be learning Fa, songs in 3 meter, music signs and symbols, multicultural music, jazz music and octavo music.
Fifth grade have been reviewing all fourth grade concepts, Fa and listening to music. In March we will begin to learn Ti, Tim-ka, Ka-tim, La pentachord, songtales, folk dances.
Sixth grade have been reviewing all fourth and fifth grade concepts, tim-ka, ka-tim, voice parts and 6/8 meter. In March we will be learning about Major/Minor, Bass Clef notes, Blues/Jazz, songtales, listening activities, folk dances, and major/minor/dorian scales.
